Newborn Photography Education

Sleeping newborn baby covered in white lace shawl — newborn photography education Scotland

Hello, I'm Ally.

I came to newborn photography after a long career shooting weddings and commercial work. I started Mabel & Møøse in my garage during a pandemic and built it into a boutique studio on the east coast of Scotland. I am still in my garage, although it's now called a studio. I am the most expensive newborn photographer in my area. I have a waiting list.

For the last 6 years I have been quietly teaching other women how to do the same thing.

Is this you?

You're spending hours watching tutorials about wrapping and camera settings. You're producing beautiful images. And you're still not making any real money.

Or maybe you haven't even started yet. Maybe you had your own baby photographed and something clicked and now you can't stop thinking about it.

Either way, you're in the right place.

What I actually teach

I teach newborn photography. One light. A white background. A simple, repeatable session structure that works every single time — with any baby, any age, any level of cooperation.

I haven't changed my camera settings in 5 years.

I have never had a session that didn't work.

I do teach wrapping. I just teach it in a way that takes minutes rather than years to master — because here's the truth: most parents don't buy the wrapped shots anyway. They buy the ones where their baby just looks like their baby.

But the photography is honestly the straightforward part.

What most educators don't teach you — and what makes the real difference between a hobby and a business — is everything else. How to run a room. How to make parents feel so safe and comfortable that they love the photos before you've even taken them. How to structure a session that produces a varied, sellable gallery every time. How to sit with a family at their Reveal Session and guide them — kindly, warmly, without an ounce of pressure — to the right decision for their family.

I started selling things at age five. I came home from my first week of school without my new pencil case. My mum was horrified. My dad — who ran a million pound business — was annoyed I hadn't made a bigger profit.

I have been selling ever since. And I can teach you to do it too. Not the sleazy kind. The kind where your clients leave your studio having spent exactly what's right for them — not so little that they get home and wish they'd bought the image of dad that made them cry, and not so much that they're worrying about the mortgage on the way home. It's my job to guide them to the right decision for their family. And I can teach you to do the same.
